A group of volunteers in neighbouring Buckinghamshire parishes recognised at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic 2020 that help was needed from food parcels and practical help and resolved to help using the group's time and professional skills to make a difference. Their motto:
'How can we help? Just ask'
By the end of 2020 they knew need had grown from families and individuals. Roman Park Community Trust was formed, enabling the work to continue on a permanent basis, improving the lives of beneficiaries and the community and volunteers in specific areas, with the aim of restoring dignity to those it helps, enhancing lives through practical help, community partnerships and finding funding for recreation, leisure and nature projects in Roman Park, Berryfields.
The Trust operates within Community Partnership with local organisations, schools, churches, other charities, commercial organisations, grant funders and others. 'Village Living' puts volunteering and inclusivity at its heart with events, fundraising, combatting loneliness. The natural environment includes the open spaces in Berryfields, particularly Roman Park, being developed to offer a natural heritage park - a unique environment for resident and visitors offering nature and wilderness areas, sports, exercise and arts space, allotments and more.
